Community Funding Group made its first request for a NMTC allocation in 2008 and was awarded $30M of allocation authority in October 2008 – for the states of Washington and Oregon.
Since receiving its allocation award, as of June 2009 CFG has deployed $24 million allocation on three projects in Portland, Oregon, as illustrated below:
- Catholic Charities – a new facility for its programs and headquarters
- Rose Quarter – a drug detoxification and low income housing facility
- Regional Health Clinic – a women’s health clinic and headquarters building
Prior to forming a CDE and requesting an allocation CFG’s founder had been providing consulting services to assist non-profit human service agencies attain funding through the NMTC program. This consulting practice resulted in the following organizations obtaining an aggregate funding of approximately $82 million, as illustrated below.
- Farestart — Job Training for the homeless in Seattle, Washington.
- Northwest Harvest — Washington state-wide food distribution to area food banks.
- Union Gospel Mission, Hope Place — Women and Children's Shelter in Seattle.
- Combined YMCA/YWCA facility in Spokane, Washington.
The projects illustrated above are very consistent with CFG’s mission of providing support to the low income community so that its members can realize self sufficiency on a sustaining basis. These agencies have missions that are very diverse and are broad community based—involving programs directed at such services as child care, homeless shelters, vocational training, access to healthcare, hunger relief, addiction treatment, affordable housing, etc.
CFG is proud of the community impact it and its partners are and will continue to have within the low income community and would welcome the opportunity to discuss any of the above projects with you.
